James David Garner is an English footballer, who has competed for England at the under-17, under-18, under-19, under-20, and under-21 levels as a youth international. He was born in Merseyside’s Birkenhead, on March 13, 2001, and currently plays as a central midfielder for Premier League Club Everton and the England under-21 team.

Garner signed a four-year contract with Everton on September 1, 2022, which garnered a lot of criticism from Manchester United supporters.

The reported fee was £9 million, with add-ons raising the potential fee to £15 million. When he was eight years old, he enrolled in the Manchester United Academy. Up to the age of 15, he started out as a center defender before switching to midfield.

At the conclusion of the 2016–17 season, Garner made his debut for the Manchester United Under-18s, coming on as a substitute in matches against Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers. He joined as an academy scholar in July 2017 and was a regular for the Under-18s in 2017–18.

As Manchester United won the Premier League North, he scored four goals in 24 appearances across all competitions, but he was away on international duty and missed the competition’s final against Chelsea. In the 2017–18 UEFA Youth League, he made eight appearances for the Manchester United Under-19s, who advanced to the round of 16 before losing to Liverpool, a nearby rival.
